FINDING THE TRUTH IN YOUR FICTION

Author Daniel Coshnear leads a forum on fiction writing from 7 to 9 p.m. Aug. 21 at the Petaluma Community Center, 320 N. McDowell Blvd. The focus of the forum will be “unlearning: a process of finding the truth in your fiction.” Coshnear is a teacher of fiction writing and author of “Jobs & Other Preoccupations.” Admisssion is $15. Jane Anne Morris, author of “Graveling Down the Rubble: How Free Trade has Stolen Our Democracy,” will discuss her new book at 7 p.m. Aug. 21 at Copperfield’s Books, 140 Kentucky St. The book examines the power struggle between mega-corporations and the ultra-rich versus the citizens whose lives are most impacted by free-trade agreements. 150 YEARS OF ETHNIC DIVERSITY

In celebration of Petaluma’s 150th birthday, the Petaluma Museum hosts the year-long exhibit “150 Years of Ethnic Diversity,” paying tribute to the people of Petaluma. Viewing hours are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays and from noon to 3 p.m. on Sundays. The museum is located at 20 Fourth St. Call 778-9348 for information.

MARK BENANTI AT AQUS CAFÉ

Guitarist Mark Benanti shares his wide range of musical styles from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Aug. 23 at Aqus Café Foundry Wharf, corner of Second and H streets. Benanti is pursuing a master’s degree in performance at Converse College’s Petrie School of Music in South Carolina. He also teaches music appreciation at the University of South Carolina.
